Where Did I Go and What's Happening Next?

It has been a while since I posted something new. Surgery and a new course has been keeping me busy.

Quick Jump: A New Course Is in the Works | What's on the Horizon? | It's Not Always Your Fault

You probably find it ironic that my previous post was about tackling procrastination and now it’s been over a month since I posted something. Meanwhile for the past year I have been posting something new every week or 2 at most.

It would be easy to conclude that I got bored with blogging and am lost in a death spiral of procrastination.

But the truth of the matter is, the procrastination tactics I spoke about are still working incredibly well. I feel like a completely changed person, and my motivation to create content has never been higher.

The problem is, when your health becomes an issue, it tends to overtake your life. I’m not quite ready to share that story, but just know that I’ve been going through surgery related shenanigans. It has physically and mentally drained me over the last 6 months but I’m like a bird, AKA. I hide it pretty well.

A New Course Is in the Works

Fortunately prior to last week’s surgery I went into serious business work mode and created a new 5 hour video course over the last few months.

The videos are all recorded + edited, and all of the course related material is ready to be deployed. I used a new microphone and video editing program for this course. I’m super excited with how it turned out.

No one has ever complained about the production quality of my other courses (in fact a lot of people have given me positive feedback on it), but this newest course has taken things to the next level.

To Udemy or Not to Udemy, That Is the Question

This time around I’m going to be launching it on a new domain and will not be selling it through Udemy.

Ultimately this means there’s still quite a bit of work to do before I can launch the course.

I can’t promise any release dates but I’m personally hoping to have it available by the end of April 2017. That is a deadline I set for myself, despite still being in a lot of pain and unable to work as much as I want.

Update: The New Course Is Available

What’s on the Horizon?

I have a lot planned for this year. Firstly, I’ve decided to start my own platform which is where a certain type of my content will live on its own domain.

This blog’s content will change quite a bit as a result of that. Long story short, I think it’s going to be a good thing because right now my blog is all over the place.

There’s hardcore neck beard programming stuff, mixed with hardware reviews and self help topics aimed at software developers. This year will be all about focusing in on a single topic.

So my plan is to create highly focused content on the new upcoming platform, and this blog will be more of a personal blog where you will find posts about whatever I happen to find interesting.

In the end, I will be blogging more.

Update: well, that didn’t last long. I ended up putting all of the Docker content on this site.

Anyways, I don’t like talking about “what if” and “upcoming” news. Instead, I like posting results. So the next time you hear from me, it will be to announce the new platform and course.

Until then, happy coding and good luck! What are you working on right now?
